Free software, paid card processing
On 10 October 2026 Wave's Starter plan cost $0 and its Pro plan cost $19 a month billed monthly or $190 a year billed annually. Pro is charged per business, so three businesses on Pro means paying three times.
Wave makes money on payments. On Starter, card payments cost 2.9% + $0.60 per transaction, or 3.4% + $0.60 for Amex. Pro drops the $0.60 for the first 10 transactions each month, then the standard rate applies. Bank transaction import is a Pro feature, unlimited receipt capture is included in Pro or an add-on at $8 a month or $72 a year, and payroll starts from $40 a month.
