Who we are
Alfie's Guide is an independent product review site run by Ray, a self-employed publisher. It is not a company and has no investors or vendor owners. You can reach Ray at hello@alfiesguide.com.
Pages carry the byline "Ray, Alfie's Guide". We do not invent staff names, biographies, photos or personas, and Ray is accountable for every published page.
What we cover
At launch: web hosting, website builders, business software and AI tools. Each section has its own page on how we review.
How we make money
We earn affiliate commissions when you buy through some links on this site, at no extra cost to you. Commission does not decide rankings. Some products we list pay us nothing. The full explanation is on the affiliate disclosure page.
What is automated and what is checked by a person
- 1Visit the vendor's own pricing page
- 2Capture a dated screenshot
- 3Record the intro price, renewal price and limits as written
- 4Publish it with a link to the source
- 5Re-check it and update the date
- Public prices and specifications are captured into our own database with the date and source of each fact.
- Where we run monitors or hands-on tests, the results come from those tests and are labeled as such.
- AI may be used to help draft text. A human editor checks facts against the source and signs off before anything is published. See the editorial policy.
Labels you will see
Every review says whether it is Tested, Measured or Researched, and every price shows the date it was checked. We never claim hands-on testing that did not happen.
