What you are paying for
Descript prices each plan per person and meters two things: media hours (how much recording you can upload and transcribe) and AI credits (for tools such as Underlord, AI speech and generated video). On 9 October 2026 the allowances were:
- Free: 1 media hour a month and 100 AI credits, once.
- Hobbyist: 10 media hours and 400 AI credits a month, 1080p watermark-free export.
- Creator: 30 media hours and 800 AI credits a month, 4K export, team of up to 3.
- Business: 40 media hours and 1,500 AI credits a month, team of up to 5.
Annual billing saves up to 35%. Hobbyist drops from $24 to $16 a month, Creator from $35 to $24 and Business from $65 to $50. Creator and Business can buy top-ups when the monthly allowance runs out.
